AI share of voice, explained
AI share of voice is the share of brand mentions in AI answers that belong to you. If ChatGPT names four meeting note apps in an answer and one is yours, you hold a quarter of that answer's voice. Summed over many questions and engines, it shows how much of the AI shortlist you own compared with competitors.
It differs from mention rate. Mention rate asks how often you are named at all; share of voice asks how big your slice is when brands are named. A brand can be named often but always beside five others, or rarely but alone.
Proofsource counts every brand named in every stored answer, then ranks them per topic and overall. You see your standing on both the mention board and the citation board, overlay any competitor on your trend lines, and read why a competitor rose or fell.
