AI prompt tracking, explained
AI prompt tracking means asking AI engines the same buyer questions on a schedule and recording how they answer. A prompt is the question a buyer would type, such as "best AI note taker for sales teams" or "Otter alternatives for small teams". It is the AI search equivalent of a tracked keyword.
Prompts are most useful grouped into topics that match how you sell: pricing, integrations, alternatives, use cases. Topic-level numbers show where you are strong; prompt-level numbers show the exact question to fix. Sentiment per prompt matters too: being named in a negative context is not a win.
Proofsource keeps a focused set of high-value buyer questions, grouped by topic, and shows mention rate, rank, citations and sentiment for each. You can tag prompts, switch the whole table to a Sentiment view, pick columns, search, and export. Settings lists every tracked prompt with how many times it has run, and a ring shows how many of your plan's prompts you are using.
