Why ChatGPT recommends your competitors instead
Proofsource's Why you lost view lists every buyer question where ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot or another AI engine named competitors and not you. For each one you see who won, the sources the engine cited, the reason per engine, how it changed over time and the next step to fix it. Built for marketing and content teams who need a to-do list, not a score.

What is an AI recommendation gap?
AI engines build an answer from the sources they trust for a question: review sites, comparison pages, forums and brand sites. When a competitor is named and you are not, it is usually because those sources mention the competitor, the competitor has a page that answers the exact question, or your page is missing, unreadable or not cited.
Proofsource turns each lost question into a diagnosis. It shows the winners, the sources cited in that answer, a reason per engine, and a timeline for questions you used to win. A side drawer opens the full answer. Every diagnosis ends in a next step, such as a page to write or a source to get listed on, ranked in your opportunity feed.

Questions about why AI recommends competitors
Why does ChatGPT recommend my competitor instead of me?
Usually because the sources ChatGPT trusts for that question mention the competitor, or the competitor has a page that answers the question directly and you do not. Proofsource shows the cited sources and a reason per engine for each lost question.
Does this work for other AI engines too?
Yes. Each lost question shows the reason per engine on every engine your plan covers, up to 10 AI engines from ChatGPT and Perplexity to Gemini, Copilot and Grok.
Can I see the full AI answer?
Yes. The answer drawer opens the full stored answer with its sources.
What is lost ground?
Questions where your mentions dropped compared with before, with a timeline of what changed in between.
What do I do with a lost question?
Each one has a next step, such as publishing a page that answers it or getting listed on a cited source. The opportunity feed ranks them.
How is this different from Semrush's gap analysis?
Semrush offers a strong Missing filter inside its SEO suite. Proofsource adds the reason per engine, a timeline for lost ground and a fix you can verify on a later re-ask.
What are questions with no citations?
Questions where no answer cited any page. They are often the easiest to win with one good page.
