Proofsource and App Store Connect: your app's real reviews, read-only

Create a read-only key in App Store Connect and Proofsource reads your app's own customer reviews, the written words buyers leave. Those words shape how people and AI engines describe your app, so reading them next to AI answers shows which complaints and praise are traveling into recommendations.

Preview Preview means the connector is open to every workspace on every plan and shows a Preview badge while we check each reader against more real accounts. It reads for real; it never changes anything in the tool. Apple's owner API gives reviews, not the public star rating, so the public rating continues to come from the public store page.

Why we love App Store Connect

In the makers' own words, from their own pages. Proofsource builds on it, never around it.

Everything for an app in one place

App Store Connect lets members manage product pages, builds and releases, invite testers through TestFlight, see App Analytics and respond to user reviews.

How Proofsource uses App Store Connect

Reads your app's own App Store reviews with a read-only App Store Connect key.

  1. Connect

    Create a Customer Support key

In App Store Connect, Users and Access, Integrations, create a key with the Customer Support role. It is read-only for reviews.

  2. Read

    Pull the app's own reviews

Proofsource uses the key to read the written reviews for the app you name, with every rating check your plan includes.

  3. Show

    Reviews beside AI answers

The Reviews screen sits next to the engines' descriptions of your app, so recurring complaints are easy to spot.

  4. Prove

    Check the story improved

After you fix what reviewers raise, watch for the same themes to fade from reviews and from AI answers.

Set up App Store Connect in 4 steps

  1. Create the key in Apple

Open Users and Access, then Integrations in App Store Connect, and create a key with the Customer Support role. Note the issuer ID, the key ID and download the .p8 file.

  2. Find the app's Apple ID

It is the number in the app's store link, apps.apple.com/app/id followed by digits.

  3. Paste on the card

In Proofsource open Integrations, Directory, choose App Store Connect and paste the issuer ID, key ID, the whole .p8 file and the Apple ID.

  4. Confirm and disconnect any time

Nothing in App Store Connect changes. Disconnect on the card and delete the key in Apple to be thorough.

Questions about Proofsource and App Store Connect

What does Proofsource change in App Store Connect?

Nothing. It only reads your app's own reviews with a read-only key.

What access does it need?

A key with the Customer Support role, plus its issuer ID, key ID, the .p8 file and the app's Apple ID. The private key is sealed when saved and never shown again.

Does it read my public star rating?

No. Apple's owner API returns your written reviews rather than the public star rating, which Proofsource reads from the public store page as before.

What does Preview mean?

It is open on every plan with a Preview badge while we check the reader against more real accounts.

How do I disconnect?

Disconnect on the App Store Connect card and delete the key under Integrations in App Store Connect.

Can I connect several apps?

Each connection is for one brand and one app, so add one per app you want to read.

How does this help my AI visibility?

What reviewers write often resurfaces in how engines describe your app. Reading it beside the answers shows what to fix. Proofsource checks up to 10 engines depending on your plan: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI. The free scan and the trial run four of them.
