Proofsource and Tableau: AI visibility in the dashboards you already trust

Proofsource publishes every brand's results as a read-only OData feed, and Tableau's built-in OData connector reads it directly. You get three tables, Daily, Citations and Competitors, ready to chart next to your sales, web and campaign numbers. Nothing is installed on either side, and Proofsource never holds your Tableau sign-in.

Why we love Tableau

In the makers' own words, from their own pages. Proofsource builds on it, never around it.

Connects to nearly any data source

Tableau's help library walks through connecting to an OData feed by entering a service URL, choosing how to sign in and loading the tables, one example of how many sources it reaches without code.

Views you build by exploring

Tableau's step-by-step exercises show how a few drags turn rows into bar charts, maps, trends and more, and stress that these are only a sample of the views you can make.

Publish once, share with the whole team

Tableau Cloud lets authors publish workbooks and shared data sources from Desktop or the web, so one good dashboard becomes everyone's source of truth with permissions planned up front.

How Proofsource uses Tableau

Tableau reads your AI visibility results from a read-only OData feed, with no Tableau sign-in ever shared with Proofsource.

  1. Connect

Create a read key and copy the address

The Tableau card shows the OData server address for the brand with a copy button. You create a read-only key right there.

  2. Read

    Tableau pulls three clean tables

Daily has one row per day and AI engine, Citations ranks every cited site, and Competitors shows share of voice per engine and per brand or competitor.

  3. Show

Put AI answers beside your other numbers

Join Daily to your web analytics by date, chart cited sources by type, or add a competitor share view to the quarterly review deck.

  4. Prove

Track the same measures after every fix

Because the feed carries the same numbers as the Proofsource dashboard, a Tableau view shows whether mentions and citations moved after a fix shipped.

Set up Tableau in 4 steps

  1. Open Content & reports

In Proofsource, go to Integrations and open the Content & reports tab. The Tableau card is always available; it needs no plan upgrade and no review.

  2. Create a read key

Create a read-only key on the card. Keys can be limited to one brand, which suits agencies sharing a single client's feed.

  3. Connect in Tableau

In Tableau choose Connect, then To a Server, then OData, and paste the server address from the card. Tableau's dialog asks for a username and password, so enter any username and the key as the password.

  4. Choose a table and build

Pick Daily, Citations or Competitors. Tableau's OData connector works with extracts, so schedule an extract refresh to keep the view current.

Questions about Proofsource and Tableau

What does the Tableau integration change in Tableau or Proofsource?

Nothing changes in either product's settings. Proofsource exposes a read-only feed for each brand and Tableau reads it like any other data source. You decide which brands and keys can see it.

What access does Tableau need?

Only a read key created in Proofsource. Tableau's dialog asks for a username and password, so the key goes in the password box. Proofsource never holds your Tableau sign-in, and the key can be limited to one brand.

Which tables and how much history can I read?

Daily gives one row per day and AI engine for up to 365 days, 90 by default. Citations ranks every cited site and Competitors gives share of voice per engine, both for up to 90 days, 30 by default. You can change the window with a days setting on the address.

Can I filter or sort inside the feed?

The feed supports top, skip and count. Filter, order and the other advanced query options answer with a clear not-supported message instead of silently returning an unfiltered table, so do your filtering in Tableau after loading.

How do I disconnect Tableau?

Revoke the read key on the Tableau card. The feed stops answering for that key straight away, and you can delete the data source in Tableau whenever you like.

Is the Tableau feed available on every plan?

Yes. The Content & reports tab, with the read key and the feed, is on for every workspace. There is no waiting list.

How does this help my AI visibility?

It puts the numbers where decisions are made. You can see which engines mention you, which sites they cite and who they recommend instead, then track the same view after each fix. Proofsource checks up to 10 engines depending on your plan: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI. The free scan and the trial run four of them.
