Proofsource and Power BI: AI answers in your reports and workbooks

Power BI and Excel both speak OData, the protocol behind Proofsource's read-only results feed, so the Daily, Citations and Competitors tables load with the OData connector you already have. Add AI visibility to the reports your leadership opens each Monday, without any code or any Microsoft sign-in shared with Proofsource.

Why we love Power BI

In the makers' own words, from their own pages. Proofsource builds on it, never around it.

Reports that anyone can build

Power BI's overview describes drag and drop tools for making interactive visuals, then filtering, sorting and drilling down to find the story in your data.

One OData connector across Excel and Power BI

The Power Query OData Feed connector is documented for both Excel and Power BI semantic models, with a navigator that lets you pick tables and load or transform them.

Built for sharing and teamwork

The Power BI service organizes reports into workspaces and apps, with roles and permissions, so one analyst's report reaches a whole team safely.

How Proofsource uses Power BI

Power BI and Excel can read your AI visibility results from the same read-only OData feed Tableau uses.

  1. Connect

Point the OData connector at the feed

Use Get data, then OData feed, and paste the brand's server address. Choose Basic sign-in with any username and the Proofsource read key as the password.

  2. Read

    Load Daily, Citations and Competitors

The navigator lists the three tables. Daily has a row per day and AI engine, Citations ranks cited sites, Competitors holds share of voice.

  3. Show

    Report next to everything else

Relate Daily to a date table, then show AI mentions beside organic traffic, pipeline or spend in one report or one Excel pivot.

  4. Prove

Refresh and compare after every fix

Schedule a refresh and watch mention and citation rates move after each shipped fix.

Set up Power BI in 4 steps

  1. Get the feed address

In Proofsource open Integrations, then the Content & reports tab, and copy the OData address from the Tableau card. It is the same feed, because both tools use the same protocol.

  2. Create a read key

Create a read-only key on that tab. Limit it to one brand if you share the report outside your team.

  3. Add it as an OData source

In Power BI Desktop or Excel choose Get data, then OData feed, paste the address and pick Basic sign-in with the key as the password.

  4. Pick tables and refresh

Select Daily, Citations or Competitors, load them, and schedule a refresh. Keep the address as the service root, as Microsoft advises.

Sample tables as the Power BI navigator lists them for a Liftback brand.

Questions about Proofsource and Power BI

Is there a Power BI or Excel card in Proofsource?

No separate card. Power BI and Excel use the same OData feed address as Tableau, because they speak the same protocol. Copy the address from the Tableau card under Integrations, Content & reports and use it in either tool.

What does the integration change in my Microsoft tools?

Nothing beyond adding a data source to your own report or workbook. Proofsource does not install anything, and it never receives your Microsoft credentials.

How do I sign in to the feed?

Choose Basic sign-in. Enter any username and paste the Proofsource read key as the password. A key can be limited to a single brand.

What tables and history are available?

Daily has one row per day and AI engine for up to 365 days, and Citations and Competitors cover up to 90 days. The address takes a days setting to change the window.

Why does a filter in the address not work?

Advanced query options such as filter and order are answered as not supported instead of returning a silently unfiltered table. Load the table and filter inside Power Query or Excel.

How do I disconnect?

Revoke the read key in Proofsource and the feed stops answering for it. Then remove the data source from your report.

How does this help my AI visibility?

You can see where each engine mentions you, which sites it cites and who it recommends instead, then check the same numbers after every fix. Proofsource checks up to 10 engines depending on your plan: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek and Meta AI. The free scan and the trial run four of them.

Put Power BI to work for your AI visibility.

Scan your brand, connect Power BI, and see what AI says about you on up to 10 engines.
