Proofsource and Google Docs: drafts your team can edit
Connect Google Docs and any fix becomes a Doc for your team: the drafted page with its headings, lists and tables, ready to edit, followed by the brief behind it. Proofsource can only open the Docs it creates, so the rest of your Drive stays out of reach.

Proofsource and Google Docs, in short
The facts, ready to quote.
- Stage
- Beta, with a Beta badge in the app
- Connects with
- Google sign-in (OAuth)
- Access it needs
- Limited access: Proofsource can only open the Docs it creates itself
- Where it shows
- Fixes, under Hand it to my team, and the Integrations directory under Hand off to your team
- What you get
- The drafted page, formatted, then the brief
- Disconnect
- On the card, or remove Proofsource from the apps with access in your Google account
Beta Beta means the Google Docs hand-off is open and works, with a Beta badge on the card while we widen it. Nothing is created until someone chooses Create a Google Doc on a fix.
Why we love Google Docs
In the makers' own words, from their own pages. Proofsource builds on it, never around it.
Writing together in real time
Google Docs lets several people write in the same document at once, with comments and suggestions, so a draft improves in one place instead of across email threads.
From workspace.google.comHelp with the first draft
Google's AI features in Docs help people start, rewrite and polish text, which pairs well with a draft that is already grounded in evidence.
From workspace.google.comFamiliar to nearly everyone
Docs opens in any browser, and shares with a link, which means the writer, the editor and the approver can all join without installing anything.
From google.comHow Proofsource uses Google Docs
Turns a fix into a Google Doc your team can edit: the drafted page with headings, lists and tables, then the brief.
- Know
Find the page that is missing
Proofsource finds the buyer question where ChatGPT, Perplexity or Gemini names someone else, and the content gap behind it.
- Act
Draft it from the sources AI trusts
The draft is written from the pages the engines already cite for that question, with headings, lists and tables.
- Ship
Hand it over as a Doc
Choose Create a Google Doc and the draft lands in your Drive, ready for editing, followed by the brief behind it.
- Prove
Check it after it goes live
Once the edited page is published, Proofsource asks the same questions again to see whether engines now name and cite you.

Questions about Proofsource and Google Docs
What does Proofsource put in Google Docs?
A Doc for the fix you choose: the drafted page with its headings, lists and tables, ready to edit, followed by the brief behind it. Proofsource creates a new Doc and does not edit any of your existing ones.
How do I connect Google Docs?
Open the Google Docs card under Hand off to your team and choose Connect Google Docs. You sign in with Google and approve limited access.
What access does it need?
Limited access: Proofsource can open only the Docs it creates. It cannot read or change the other files in your Drive.
How do I disconnect?
Disconnect on the card, or remove Proofsource from the apps with access in your Google account. Docs already created stay in your Drive.
What does Beta mean for Google Docs?
The hand-off works and is open, and a Beta badge shows on the card while we widen it. A Doc is only created when someone chooses it on a fix.
How does this help my AI visibility?
A good draft that nobody reviews never ships. Docs lets writers and approvers edit together, and Proofsource then checks whether engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini name and cite you once the page is live.
Will Proofsource publish the Doc for me?
No. The Doc is for your team to edit. Publishing is a separate step through the destinations you connect, such as your CMS or a pull request.
