Questions about Proofsource and Fastly
What does Proofsource do on my Fastly service?
For logs, nothing: Fastly streams lines out and Proofsource receives them. If you turn on AI-readable pages, Proofsource uses your API token to add the rule that serves AI crawlers a readable copy of the page. Visitors are not affected.
What access does the Fastly token need?
Only the ability to edit the one service that serves your site. Proofsource does not need account-wide access. Use a token limited to that service and revoke it any time.
Do I need the AI-readable pages part?
No. Log streaming works on its own and shows which pages AI crawlers read. The AI-readable page fix is for sites whose content is hard for crawlers to read, for example pages built in the browser.
How do I disconnect?
Delete the log streaming endpoint in Fastly to stop logs, and switch AI-readable pages off in Proofsource, then revoke the token. Your site returns to how it was.
How does this help my AI visibility?
Engines can only cite what they can read. Logs show which pages they reach, and a readable copy fixes the pages they could not read. Proofsource then asks the engines again to see whether they name you.
