Set up Claude Desktop in 4 steps
Open Connectors
In Claude Desktop, go to Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
Paste the Proofsource URL
Use the MCP server URL shown on the Claude Desktop card in Proofsource, under Settings, Connect AI apps.
Sign in
A Proofsource sign-in opens. Pick a workspace if you have more than one, then allow.
Or use an API key
If you prefer, an API key from Proofsource also works. Revoke either from Settings in Proofsource at any time.

What can I ask Claude Desktop once Proofsource is connected?
You can ask how visible your brand is in AI answers, who the engines recommend instead, which sources they cite, what changed, which fixes to do, and whether a fix worked. You can also add a buyer question to track.
How do I connect it?
In Claude Desktop open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste the Proofsource MCP URL. You sign in to Proofsource once and the tools appear.
Can I use an API key instead?
Yes. An API key from Proofsource also works if you prefer it to signing in.
I already added Proofsource on claude.ai. Do I do it again?
No. A connector added on claude.ai also works in the Claude desktop app.
How do I disconnect?
Remove the connector in Claude Desktop, and revoke the sign-in or API key in Proofsource under Settings. Either one cuts access.
Does it change my site or data?
Reading tools only read. A few tools write, such as adding a tracked question or marking a fix shipped, and those need write access.
