Write your llms.txt in a few minutes.
Fill in your site's name, a one-paragraph summary and the pages that matter. The file builds as you type, in the llmstxt.org format, and is checked line by line. It all runs in your browser.
Build the file.
Your llms.txt
Save it as llms.txt at the root of your site, so it answers at yoursite.com/llms.txt. Once it is live, check it with the llms.txt validator.
Checks
Starts with an H1 title
Your site
No blockquote summary
A `> one-paragraph summary` under the title tells a model what the site is before it reads anything else.
No ## sections
List your key pages under ## headings, each a markdown list of links.
No links in markdown lists
Links are how a model finds the pages worth reading.
About the generator.
What does the llms.txt generator do?
It writes a markdown file in the llmstxt.org format from what you type: an H1 with your site name, a blockquote summary, optional notes, and ## sections of links. Nothing you type leaves your browser unless you ask it to read your sitemap.
Where do I put the file?
At the root of your site, so it answers at /llms.txt, served as plain text. Then run the llms.txt validator against your domain to check the live copy.
Will llms.txt make AI engines name my brand?
There is no evidence it does. No major answer engine has said it ranks or cites pages by it. It is a cheap, clear brief for agents and developer tools; readable pages and open crawler access matter far more.
New to the format? Read what llms.txt is, then check that AI crawlers can reach your site with the AI crawler checker.
