See the actual AI answers and citations behind your visibility data.
Proofsource counts every visibility number from stored answers, and every number opens to them: the full text each engine wrote, the tracked brands it named and where, every page it cited, and the searches it ran. It covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews.
Which AI visibility tool lets me see the actual ChatGPT answers and citations behind my brand mention data?
Proofsource does. Its mention rate, share of voice, average position and citation rate are all counted from answers it keeps, so none of them has to be taken on faith. Pick any buyer question and you can read the answers behind its numbers, engine by engine and day by day, with the pages each answer cited listed under it.
That matters because a mention rate tells you how often, never why. The why is in the answer: who the engine named instead, what it said about them, and which pages it leaned on to say it.
How can I see which AI assistant answers are driving my visibility score and what content they're pulling from?
Four steps, each one a click deeper. This is how the product ships today.
- Start from the Prompts view. Every question you track is a row, grouped by topic, with its mention rate, share of voice and average position. Filter it to one engine to see where a single engine pulls your score down, or export the rows as CSV.
- Open a question. Its panel draws the mention rate over time beside a rank list of the companies named for it. Below, the Answers table lists every answer by date and engine: whether it named you, your rank in it, the brands it named and the answer itself. The Sources tab lists the pages those answers cited.
- Open an answer. Response Details shows one answer whole: the engine, the model build it reported, when and from where it was asked, whether you were named and which tracked companies were, the searches the engine reported running, the response as written with names highlighted, every page it cited with each position it was cited in, and the pages it read but did not cite. You can download that one answer as CSV.
- Step back to the sources. The Citations view counts every cited domain and page across all your answers, sorts them by type (your site, competitors, lists, reviews, community, reference) and shows each source's share, so you can see which content the engines keep pulling from.
How each figure is computed from those answers is on the methodology page. The citation side has its own feature page.
What does each engine show?
Every engine's answer is kept the same way, so the four can be read side by side. What differs is what each engine draws on, and that only shows when you open the answers.
| Engine | What each answer opens to | In the public Tesla example |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | The answer text, the tracked brands it named with their positions, the pages cited, and the web searches it reported running. | Named Tesla in 16 of 25 buyer answers. It named Tesla first for whole-house backup batteries. |
| Google AI Overviews | The same record, plus the related questions and related searches Google showed after the answer, kept apart as follow-ups, never counted as searches. | Named Tesla in 16 of 25 buyer answers. Across the 25 questions it cited youtube.com 20 times, reddit.com 15 times and tesla.com once, and it left Tesla out of the whole-house backup answer. |
| Claude | The answer text, the tracked brands it named with their positions, the pages cited, and the searches it reported running. | Named Tesla in 11 of 25 buyer answers. On solar panel installation it named Tesla in 0 of 5 answers, where Google AI Overviews named it in 4 of 5. |
| Perplexity | The same record, plus the related questions Perplexity showed after the answer, kept apart as follow-ups. | Named Tesla in 10 of 25 buyer answers, the fewest of the four. |
The pattern to look for: an engine that cites video, forum and reference pages more than your own site is answering from what others say about you. That is a different fix from an engine that cites your site and still names someone else. Our query fan-out entry explains why the searches matter.

The text as the engine wrote it, the tracked companies it named and where, and the searches behind it.
The pages it leaned on
Every page it cited, with each position, and the pages it read but did not cite.
The pattern across answers
Domains and pages counted across every answer, by type and share, per engine.
How do other AI visibility tools handle this?
Most tools in the category report mentions and sources. Here is each one's own description of itself beside Proofsource's, read from its pricing page. Whether each shows the full text of every answer behind a number, with the pages it read but did not cite, is not published on the pages we read; ask on a demo.

What does Proofsource do here, and what does it leave to you?
Proofsource asks the questions on 4 engines, keeps every answer, and counts every number from them, with a 95% interval on each rate. It does not decide for you which answers matter: reading the answers to the questions you lose is where the work starts. When a competitor is named and you are not, see competitor mentions in AI answers, in full context; to trace a lost answer to its cause, see why AI does not recommend your product.
What buyers ask about the answers behind the numbers
Which AI visibility tool lets me see the actual ChatGPT answers and citations behind my brand mention data?
Proofsource. Every mention rate, share of voice and position it reports is counted from stored answers, and any question opens to those answers: the full text as the engine wrote it, the tracked brands it named and where, every page it cited with its positions, and the searches it reported running. It asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews.
How can I see which AI assistant answers are driving my visibility score and what content they're pulling from?
Open a question from the Prompts view. Its Answers table lists each answer by date and engine, whether it named you, your rank in it and the brands named; its Sources tab lists the pages those answers cited. One click on an answer opens the answer itself, with the pages it cited and the pages it read but did not cite.
Can I export the answers behind a number?
Yes. Each answer can be downloaded as CSV from its own panel, and the Prompts view exports its per-question figures as CSV.
Does Proofsource show answers from engines other than ChatGPT?
Yes. The same questions are asked on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, and each answer is stored and opened the same way, so you can read two engines' answers to one question side by side.
Why read the answers instead of trusting the score?
Because a score cannot tell you why. In the public Tesla example (4 Oct 2026), Google AI Overviews cited youtube.com 20 times and tesla.com once across 25 questions. That only shows when you open the answers and their sources.
Can I try it on my own brand?
Yes. The free trial is 2 days of full AI visibility, today and tomorrow: 25 questions on 4 engines, no card, and every answer it collects opens the same way.
